Refreshing an established brand

Saflec Systems started trading in 2003 when their parent company, Saflec (Pty) Ltd, identified a gap in the market for a locally designed and manufactured access security control product. Although their existing site was functional, they wanted to update it to meet with current standards.

The Goal
After auditing Saflec Systems’ website, we identified several areas that needed work. While they didn’t require a complete re-branding, it was obvious that their images, navigation and copy needed attention. More importantly, the existing site wasn’t mobile-friendly; a feature both users and Google consider important.

The strategy
While the existing site was still running, we set to work re-creating it on a responsive theme. Now text and images automatically adapt to the size of the screen, not matter whether the user is viewing the site on a desktop, tablet or smartphone.

Then we worked on the images; creating a series of eye-catching banners to the Home Page to showcase the company’s products and adding some photos to the Team page.

Finally, we streamlined the navigation by adding drop-down menus so visitors can go directly to the product they want without scrolling through a sub-menu first.

Adding more value
Despite the fact that Saflec Systems is a well-known brand in the access control security industry, they’re keen to expand their reach. We suggested that they add a blog page to their new website, let us manage their social media and send out a monthly newsletter.

Once they agreed to this, we kicked off by creating a newsletter announcing the website re-vamp to their customers and spreading the news on their Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn profiles.

The result
Saflec Systems has received a positive response to the website site refresh. Being more active on social media has also resulted in potential customers contacting them directly. We anticipate that as more content is created and published on their website and social channels, there brand awareness will increase and their customer base will grow.
